Reindeer Puppet:

This is the Reindeer Puppet character called Bae  that I designed and built for Julie Clare’s Production of The Snow Queen, in London Christmas 2019. This large puppet was designed to look like aging rotten wood, but have an ethereal magical quality as the reindeer character Bae is a magical talking character.

The puppet is largely made from Plastizote that was patterned and then heat carved into, to creat the wooden texture. It was then coated in latex and painted, then mounted on a wooden handle. It was very light for its size, and had a halo and single leg that when used gave the sense of size whilst not hiding the actor and their excellent physical work.

About Me:

I am a professional puppet maker and creature creator. Also I design, illustrate, sculpt and fabricate. I have a performance background as both an actor and puppeteer. So when I develop characters and build puppets I always approach the project from the point of view of the performer. Due to this I strive to build characters that are engaging and believable, whilst making them a joy to perform. Allowing the puppeteer to get the maximum and most versatile performance out of them. I have worked in puppets and creature FX for a number of years; spanning TV, Film, theatre and online mediums.
