The Lirpasloof puppet taking a rest

Lirpasloof or april fools, puppet for iwoca designed and built by puppet maker Chris Barlow
The Lirpasloof puppet (April Fools) for Iwoca business finance company. I designed, built and puppeteered the featured Lirpasloof puppet. The task was to create a fairly realistic mythical creature. This would feature in a comedy video that riffed on the idea of Goat Yoga. They stipulated this creature should have features reminiscent of a dog, a lion and goat.
It was a really fun and lovely project but the deadline was very tight – in other words, just 10 days from beginning to end.
I enlisted the help of the very talented Adam Keenan Animatronics to make the eye blink and ear moving mechanisms, and he really did me proud in a couple of days.
The Lirpasloof puppet is made from latex, fiberglass, reticulated foam, aluminium, acrylic, furs.
About Me:
I am a professional puppet maker and creature creator. I design, illustrate, sculpt and fabricate. With a past background in performance as both an actor and puppeteer. I develop characters and build puppets, I always approach the project from the point of view of the performer. I strive to build characters that are engaging and believable, whilst making them a joy to perform; allowing the puppeteer to get the maximum, most versatile performance out of them. I have worked in puppets and creature FX for a number of years; spanning TV, Film, theatre and online mediums.
